Which bolts (nuts) are you trying to torque??? Which engine is this??? AQ????

"not sure which engine it is,

"not sure which engine it is, its my friends boat the tourque setting im looking for is for the rocker nuts all i know its a 3 litre 4 clyinder petrol engine 1998 . i put no 1 clyinder at tdc then put push rods in tightened the nuts down turned it over and had no compresion when i removed the push rods no 1 pot rods were ok but the rest were bent"

"I was afraid that's what you had done.
The "rocker nits" are adjusters and not to be "tightened". The general procedure for setting these nuts is to rotate the engine so that the cam is at its lowest point for a given valve and then to adjust the nut so that there is a particular, measured, gap, i.e. it's specifically loose, not tight at all when adjusted. When the engine and hence the cam rotates, then the push rods come up tight against the rocker arms and open the valves.

INVEST in a good shop manual.... and a new set of push rods. If you're lucky, no valve or piston damage occured."
