Hey guys, new here!
I bought a 1988 four winns freedom 160
It was still winterized when I got it, is very clean can't even tell it's an 88.
I went to get it going, it cranks but wouldn't fire. I went over the obviously things been reading a bunch of forums. I tried to check spark but I'm alone and wasn't the easiest but doesn't seem to have spark. Doing some more reading and someone suggested using a jumper wire to the coil. I tried that and it started to spit and spudder like it was going to fire! Finally getting closer. Then my battery got to weak so charging it now. One thing I noticed though is my coil got extremely hot!! HELP PLEASE!

Carefully remove the distributor cap,

You will see.

Carefully separate a (points) and use some FINE sand paper. Carefully move sand paper back and fourth a few times. The point cantact surface is most likely oxidized and the sand paper will remove the oxidation.

Once completed, Blow area clean of any grit left over.

Now try to restart. If it does, Purchase a TUNE UP KIT, Points. Rotor and Condenser and find someone who KNOW HOW TO TUNE UP A POINT IGNITION.
This will have to be done EACH SEASON! So you may want to consider buying several tune up kits all at once for a supply for upcoming years.
