2HP BF2AM SA 1997 Plug Fouling

Good Day all,

My four stroke 2hp is fouling plugs. It runs for about an hour or so then shuts off. Remove plug and it's very dark. Replace plug and it starts first pull. Motor runs smooth at all throttle settings. Carb and all passages/jets are clean. The odd thing I did notice is that when trying to adjust the mixture screw is that it had no effect on the motor rpms and how it ran. I just returned it to 2 turns out.

I am Stumped.

Any suggestions?

So as an update...The mixture screw does have an effect. If I turn the screw out 5 turns or so it does start to make the motor rough rough. If i gently turn the screw all the way in..this when the motor will run at it's peak rpm for a given throttle setting. However...I cannot turn the mixture screw in far enough to make the motor rough rough on the "other side" of the fuel/air ratio. While running rough with the screw out 5 turns or so...and I apply choke smoothly the motor will continue to run "rougher". So I am assuming turning the screw out is making the mixture "richer".

Is this the way the these screws should operate? Should I be able to get the mixture more leaner to make it run rough on the "lean of Peak side"?

Any insight appreciated.

Thanks
