2bbl Rochester Carb Problem HELP!!!

I have a 2bbl Rochester Carb. on a 470 Mercruiser engine. I rebuilt to carburator and am missing 2 vital pieces of information.... #1. What is the measurment for the plastic float. I am holding the bowl cover assembly so the float hangs down like it sits on the carb. what is the measurment from the gasket sufrace to the lip of the float???? #2. The fuel filter that goes into the fuel inlet is open on one side and closed on the other. What side goes where?? The open or closed side should be facing the carburator???? 1-3/4 hanging down,carb turned upside down W/ 2 piece piece solid needle 3/8ths
W/ springloaded needle, 9/16ths

The open end of filter faces out toward fuel line. The closed part goes against spring in filter housing.

Yes.......If you put the closed end against the fuel line the NO GAS to carb.

Look in the filter hole of the carb for the hole location that allows gas to enter carb. It is to the side..........
