280 sterndrive remote fiction adjustment

Brought a old boat yesterday its a 1986 steadecraft running a 145hp with a 280 stern drive (only 300 hours on it !!).

One thing i noticed during sea trails is the throttle will not stay where set on hand lever, is there a fiction adjustment on these or ?

Some throttle/shift units will offer a restriction or resistance control device. Post a photo of your throttle/shift unit.

Also, look to see if there is a throttle linkage return spring. If so, you may want to remove it.

Looking at what i can see this morning i can see no adjustment available tho in saying that i can't get it out to have a decent look, there is a screw behind the black cover i can't get access to,,
