"What are these #'s ? I understand a 4.3, 5.0, 8.1 502 Big block etc.etc. Are these AQ's older model V/P's or Wut? Would for example an SX outdrive be a 280 V.P. or Wut ? Please answer these seemingly ignorant Q's...just to clear my head and I promise I wont axe iny more dum Q's.

"The Volvo Penta outdrives until late 1980s were AQs (which stands for Aquamatic). Initially, the number after the AQ did stand for the rated horsepower, but with the changes in standards to measure power output some of them were off mark. For example, the AQ140 was 'only' putting out 125 HP, but you get the idea.

The outdrive models went from 200, 250, 270, 275, 280, 290, SP, DP, then to the SX. The latter is based on the OMC Cobra (Volvo Penta purchased OMC)."
