275 shift cable

My shift cable on the back of the outdrive seems to rest close to the drive bellow, vey close actually. Probably like only 1/4 inch away. Is this correct, and just the design and the way it's suppost to be?? Or is there something wrong here. Have attached pictures.thanks. also these pics. were taken with the drive fully down.

That's the way they are. The water hose "S-hose" is very thick and will ware over time but the U/J bellows is thin and does get a little ware on them. I have slightly, just slightly, bent the cable right before the anchor down some to get away from the U/J bellows.
 
ok, thanks always wondered about that since i got the boat and i replaced the outdrive thought perhaps i had assembled something wrong but i guess not. i bent my cable in the same place also a bit, but did'nt wanna go to far, it felt like it may break off right at the ancor.
