"Any help on this would be appreciated. Bought the boat last fall replaced coil, condenser, distributor cap, points, plugs, wires, and it ran great this year til last week. Engine died after 1hr. @ 3500rpm run in calm lake with good load of people and luggage. Could not restart, thought it was empty tank, switched tanks, would not start. Returned next week, found two dead batteries learned they were 4 yrs old, replaced both, still no start turns nicely, but no go, used starter fluid in carb, still no go. When my co-owner was trying to get it started I noticed on the aft part of the engine block, toward's the bottom a black rubber stopper that had water oozing out of and more the engine turned, more water poured out. This rubber stopper easily pulls out and looks like it is designed with an opening in the bottom to allowing this seepage. It is just above the metal plate with the engine info. Educate this newbie, what is it, should water be pouring out? We noticed an abundance of old and spare condensers on the boat and figured we would install a electronic ignition module hoping this would solve the starting issues. I know we should check spark plugs for fire, etc, but the gushing water is worrisome. HELP!"
