I have a 270 outdrive and was changing the prop today and found the zinc plate worn and the stainless steel cup worn and torn up.
Here's my question.
my clymer manual calls this cup the spacer.
But what I have found online may call it the line cutter.Can anyone please tell for sure what it is called so I can order a new one.

This stainless cup goes between the zinc plate and the propeller.
Thanks for your help.

"It is in fact both.
The sleeve on the prop shaft is the spacer, the on-welded 'cup' is intended to keep away and cut fishing lines from destroying the prop shaft seals. Generally called a line cutter."

Ditto Morten's comment.

Make sure that you do indeed have the 270 lower unit when you order this part..... the spacer/line cutter is a different length between the 250/270/275 and the 280/290 lower unit styles.

"Make sure if you have a short hub or a long hub, the spacer/line cutter are 2 different sizes, 2 different partnumbers. I found out the hard way."

"Tom, Just a friendly FYI;
On the AQ series single prop drives, the prop hub (long/short) does not determine the line cutter/spacer length!!!!
The line cutter/spacer is determined by the drive......(actually, by the prop shaft and bearing carrier)..... not by the prop hub itself!

The prop hub (long/short) does determine which cone nut configuration you choose. I.E., One pc full cone vs the two piece cone using only the aft portion, etc.

"Well, thanks for taking that

"Well, thanks for taking that the right way... some forums are touchy when it comes to suggesting a correction.
