"So going to the camp spot friday night with no moon and a rechargeable spot light was quite the experiance. Luckily it was dead calm, so I used the stars reflections and the ocasional jet nav light reflections to avoid land. Any ways come time to go home Saturday afternoon it was again a perfect lake, but there is a bad vibration going with RPM's (say around 3-4000). When on the trailer I noticed that the prop was ... wobbling... almost like the prop shaft could be bent. Is is more likely that the prop hub is bad or am I out 6-700 bucks on a shaft? The prop is the original prop and is definately showing some wear & tear."

"Well you told the whole story except the part where you hit something.

If you are sure nothing was hit I'd look at the prop but it would be strange for the prop to go bad while just sitting there.
Then again it is a boat and anything can and will happen.

Neat ride eh? Been there, done that, no fun. Next time just for kicks throw some snow into the mix.

Now that puckers the lower body areas."

"Well see I bought the boat with a 14x17 prop on it and it sucked gas like crazy so I put the original prop (14x19) on it. Thats when I noticed the shimmy. I don't recall feeling the shimmy on the 17 prop. Anyways...last night I checked the prop shaft with a metal hanger as a pointer, and to my luck it was not bent. Further inspection to the prop showed the hub misaligned. Are prop hubs repairable or is it just better to go new?"

There are prop shops that will

There are prop shops that will rebuild the prop almost as good as new. I say almost because to me there is nothing as good as new. New is new.

Check with a marina they may know of a shop.

Most of the time it cost about 2/3 of a new prop.

As long as there is no big chunks missing it works out just fine and yes they replace the hub.

Good luck and glad to hear it's just the prop.
