270 mainshaft or flywheel bearing

Sorry if this is a repeat post but i couldnt find any others on this subject and my manual doesnt help.

Personally, I am a firm believer that you should pull the engine. The reason being, you cannot change the inner lip seal in the bellhousing and you cannot ascertain that the pilot bearing is in place, or what is the condition of the absorber (vibration damper)."

You do not mention which engine this is!
On the OHC 4 w/ the single bearing, I'd be very inclinded to attempt it with the engine in place (and I have done so on more than several occasions). However, these are among the easiest engines to pull.

Like El P says, there are so many other things you can take care of with an engine out of your way. "
