"I'm stumped. Leg will not

"I'm stumped. Leg will not lift up or down, in up position light does not come on. I'm able to move the leg by jumping off the motor wires (2 wire). I have cleaned the contacts coming to motor and starter. I have replaced both relays, I have replaced the tilt switch. It was working intermitantly, alot of cliking but now nothing. A couple of questions, they gave me 2 different relays, up and down, are they different? I would think they would be the same.
Off the tilt switch I have 3 wires going back to the tilt mechanism and 1 going from the down to the ingintion switch, is this right?
I wouldn't think it would be the limit switch since I cannot get it to go up."

"Thanks El, diagram very usefu

"Thanks El, diagram very usefull, seloc doesn't explain it very well. Turns out loose wires in relay box. Now just to get the wipers working. Cheers."

"El Pescador,

Thanks for the link to the previous topic on 270 tilt. Where can I buy a new up relay? This will be my third in 13 years....

Mucho gracias"

"I work on and over-haul these

"I work on and over-haul these units. To the best of my knowledge, the two relays are the same schematically with exception to the amperage rating. Same pin #'s and so on.

The Sierra p/n can have the mounting tang removed. It may be larger in physical size, of which may require the black case to be modified slightly..... it will, however, work.

# 42 in the schematic is a push-in connector device. Not a very good one at that! Check this and/or replace it with a cap style crimp connector.

Check for power at the helm switch (this is independant from the actual unit power).
Check the helm switch harness pin connector for corrosion (this will be at/near the inside of the transom...... a gray colored harness!)

"Watch for some errors in both the Seloc and Clymer manuals.""
