"I have a 1980 Mercruiser 260

"I have a 1980 Mercruiser 260 (Chevy 350) that refuses to start most of the time.I have installed a new fuel pump, new alternator, and new distributor. Compression checks good on every plug. Blue spark on the plugs. Carb was just rebuilt and accelerator pump pumps fuel just fine. I have had 2 mechanics check it out and both left dumb-founded. Any ideas?"

loose cannon plug, main harness plug at engine should be greased and have a clamp on it.

"If you have spark, fuel and a

"If you have spark, fuel and air, you should have igniton. If you have all 3 than chances are there is a timing issue. If your distrubitor uses points, too much or too little dwell will cause problem.
Need more info.

Did you try starting fluid?
Does it ever start?
Does it backfire when trying to start.
Did it ever run and what happened when it quit running (was it running then quit, what did it sould like when it quit)?"
