Are there a physical differanc

Are there a physical differance between a 83-25hp and a 84-30hp. would like to interchange the mid-section and lower unit

The 25hp has a completely different lower unit and mid-section from the 30. The 25 has the exhaust exiting above the propeller out the bottom of the AV plate. The 30 has through-hub exhaust. It is possible to swap a 25hp powerhead over to a 30 mid and lower, and vice-versa. I am pretty sure the 25hp has a restrictor in the intake manifold, along with a differently jetted carb, so it might not perform quite as well as the 30. I'm working on a similar 20hp (1986) right now and it has the restrictor.
