I have a mid '90s 25 hp Ma
I have a mid '90s 25 hp Mariner outboard with console controls. The tilt lock still catches even when the engine is shifted to forward. The rod that comes through the engine downshaft moves as it is supposed to. That same rod does move the other rod that is linked to the tilt lock but it does not move far enough. It looks like the rod linked to the tilt lock may be slightly bent but I can't for the life of me bend it. Is it even possible that the rod is bent? How has anyone bent one back? Are there any other areas that could cause the tilt lock not to move far enough?
