25hp Mariner remotes

Hi,

i have bought remotes for my 25hp (previously tiller only), Mercury part number 826633A1.

all seems fine except I don't have the instructions for this kit, does anyone know what Detent Spring and Spring plate do or where they go, seem surplus to me?
