Short of the story is I purchased a 2000 250hp ocean pro. I run the motor on muffs and ran great, installed on boat and took it for a ride. Fired right off in water then it slowly idled down till it died. Then did the ole turn the choke knob up give it a pump on bulb and fired right up turned choke back to normal or down and it slowly dies out till it quits.
Which brings me to what I found. If l choke it come over idle and then put the choke lever back to norm I can roll on out. Come back to idle it dies out. Looked into fuel pump / VRO and found someone recently put a new rebuild kit in it but seemed to leave out the O ring on the pump side / double spring side out. On most parts pages it lists this as a vacuum passage O ring. Most parts pages list it as part # 6 on breakdowns.
Would this cause these issues? I put a O ring back in it, put it together and run on muffs again. Noticed my rpm's went from 800 to 1200 on muffs which seems more in line for being on muffs. Also notice it now does not smoke as much.
