250 HPDI VMax "SHIFTING" issue concern

I have a 2007 VZ250FTLR. New this year is a shifting issue that concerns me. From neutral, shifting either way (reverse or forward)...I hear a loud grinding noise before engaging. I was wondering if there is something "I" can adjust without bringing to the $$DEALER$$ ?
I assume there is a shift linkage that I can probably adjust & test. Or, could it possibly be idling to high? I don't think so...but what RPM should it be idling?

Are you shifting with a firm quick motion or are you easing it into gear ??---------Easing an outboard into gear is a mistake.

Not throwing it into gear really fast...but not going slow either.

Quick shifting is the best way to shift a motor.------Does the least damage to clutch dog lobes and the gears !
