25 hp tiller evinrude sportster think its a 72 model need help

i have the motor only w/o the external wiring harness. i just want to use pull starter and make it run. Do i have to hook up a battery and rig up a starter button ? anyone have any ideas. need to do this on the cheap.

i just want to bypass the elec starter and battery and use it as a rope start.

On the throttle gears on the side of the motor, you will see a screw with a spring around it. That is the idle speed set screw. Back it all the way off, and it will stall and stop simply by turning the throttle twist grip all the way toward "slow". That's how we always did it before they put those fancy screws on them.
