I have a 1987 25 hp Mariner outboard that has not been run in 5 years. I cannot get the spark plugs to fire. The kill switches are good. My question is about the trigger and stator coils under the fly wheel. What kind of ohm reading should I get from these? Right now I am showing very high ohms. 750 ohms on the trigger coil and 3200 ohms on the stator coil. On the other hand the stator coil used for charging shows 0 ohms resistence.

" I picked this service manual

" I picked this service manual for serial group 6416713-OG044026.
Stator:
between blk/wh and engine gnd 120-180
between blk/yel and engine gnd 3200-3800
between blk/wh and blk/yel 3100-3700

Trigger:
between brn/yel and brn/wh 650-850

If your serial # doesn't fall into this group let me know, but I think it should be the same readings. "

" Thanks Tom, looks like they

" Thanks Tom, looks like they are good. What would you check next, the power pack?? Is there any way to check one of those things??? "

" I would remove the Black/Yel

" I would remove the Black/Yellow (the stop circuit) wire from the switch box. That would eliminate any problem in the harness. If still no spark, and all the other components chack good, there is not much left except the switch box. "

Not really. If the inputs are

Not really. If the inputs are good then the output from the switch are either good or bad.
