25 hp mariner not firing

Ran motor in river yesterday, shut it off and would not crank back. 20 minutes later it cranked I ran it for 5 minutes it skipped a few times, when I shut it off it would not crank back. Got it home to find no fire on either cylinder. Any ideas on how and what to check first ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Explain what you mean by ----" crank back "----------The term means nothing to most folks.-----------------Check all electrical connections / wires to do with the CDI box.--------Check your circuit for the stop / kill switch.

Sounds like classic electronics failure--they work until they heat up then die. I suspect the switch box is bad.
