25 HP Evinrude Kill Switch

I have a 1981 25HP Evinrude, that had a stop button (kill switch) that was not working, so I removed it and instead of replacing the stop button, I have been using the full choke knob to kill the motor.Will this damage the motor in anyway?"The Sturgeon General".

had a 57 35hp no kill sw used choke for 15yr no problem

No damage can be done by " flooding " it to stop the motor.

wont hurt it but as others have said make it harder to start.lot easier to replace switch and the run carbies dry to make easier starting next time
