I recently acquired a 1998 25 hp carbureted 4 stroke Mercr, serial number OG735981. Runs good, needs a prop.
In shopping around for a prop, I see occasional references to "Bigfoot", which I know has something to do with drive gear ratio (but I don't really care about the details). All I really want to know is how I can determine if this particular motor is "Bigfoot", since there is no indication on the motor or cowl and I have no other frame of reference. Since it may be relevant to prop selection. Anyone know how I determine / verify whether this motor is a "Bigfoot"?
I just want to get a well matched prop. Will be putting this motor on a 14' 3" aluminum V-hull boat (Lund), which weighs about 230 pounds and I figure on about 400-500 lbs. of "cargo" (people, gear and a full six gallon fuel tank).
Any informed input or guidance would be welcomed and much appreciated. Mere guesses won't help me much. Thanks in advance.
