225hp trim motor removal

I have a 1998 225hp evinrude and the power trim stop working a few weeks after I bought the boat. I checked the relays (good) and tried to hook the motor to a battery and nothing. I got the 2 bolts in the rear of the motor out no problem and one on right. The one on the left Im having trouble getting to it. What is the secret or does the complete lift unit need to be pulled out. help

Not sure about your motor but all the trim units I've seen, the whole unit has to come out just to get to that one bolt. The gurus on this forum can answer your question much better thank me.

You can use a 1/4 inch drive swivel/socket and extension (do not use a socket and a swivel it is too long) ITS A TIGHT FIT
I used a swivel socket from snap-on.

You can tilt the motor all the way up and block it. Then pull the top pin out of the tilt ram and pull the unit back to get at that bolt.

I agree with Boobie except if motor has seen salt water pin comes out very hard.

That's why they make acy/oxy torches, brass drifts and BFH's.
