"I'm having problems with

"I'm having problems with my outboard motor which is a 20HP Mercury Thunderbolt, serial number 8062052. I need to know what year it was manufactured and also need to know why it will kick over and go but water will not pump through it at all. Hoping somebody can help me with these questions."

qci_guy - Thanks for replying and no the water is not coming through at all. Because of that I'm hesitant to kick the motor over again until I've pinpointed the problem and fixed it otherwise I think I will probably stuff the motor up all together

Have you tried taking the bott

Have you tried taking the bottom of the leg off yet? On mine there was four bolts and I had to disconect the linkage for the forward/reverse. The water pump impeller is in there and it could be stuck. It is a place to start.
