how do you know if your motor is 4 stroke or 2 stroke no manual

Is there anything on your motor that looks like a belt to turn a cam shaft ??

If I was a smart*ss, I'd say, "Run it without oil in the gas and you'll soon know!" But I'm not (hardly).

Most of the Merc 4 strokes are labeled "4 STROKE" right on the cowling. If yours does not, it's probably a two stroke.
