Second PCM motor replacement Model 12 653VC, 6.0 450HP in a 2019 Axis A24. Motor developed a ticking sound from somewhere internally, pulled motor and had it torn down to find that the skirt on number three piston had come in contact with the crankshaft due to excessive piston end play. This contact broke a small 1/3" part off skirt and ended up in the bottom of block. Motor had approx 250hrs, oil changed at regular interval, had great compression across all 8 holes otherwise a well maintained 6.0. The motor is just out of warranty by a couple months. The first motor was replaced due to lack of power (took shop 5 months and never figured out why). Over the course of warranty period boat was in the shop several times for various issues with a cumulative time of over a year. Mainly for lack of power, propeller shaft broke (due to internal failure), again lack of power unable to determine why. Motor replaced with a used motor under Warranty though still did not have as much power as new. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Block is still serviceable as well as crankshaft pending further inspection (Magnaflux Crack Inspection)

If you can document that the boat was in the shop and unavailable, I would think it would be easy to make the case to extend the warranty window...Whether the rep you get will bite or not is a coin flip.

The court approach is another option but that will be expensive, time consuming, and leave you with a bad taste in your mouth, even if you do prevail...

Last one I have is outside of my experience well....if the right social media group(s) exist, you could go down that path telling your story - but make sure it is fact-based and well documented.

Thanks for your reply, the motor disassembly is well documented with pictures. The top of motor looked used and untouched the bottom had been opened as oil pan had been replaced. I have no idea why or what was done. When motor was replaced, I was told it was new but the ECU showed 150+ hours on it. Also the internal components looked like if had 1000+ hours on it not 250. Cam bearings look worn as well as rod bearings, pistons, valves pretty much entire rotating assembly.
When shop was trying to determine why there was a loss of power they had boat for an extended period of time. They had it so long I got in touch with a lemon law attorney who was happy to help (they said boat was clearly a lemon) then PCM offered this motor. I may contact them again though they were not happy I pulled the case.
