HELP
Second PCM motor replacement Model 12 653VC, 6.0 450HP in a 2019 Axis A24. Motor developed a ticking sound from somewhere internally, pulled motor and had it torn down to find that the skirt on number three piston had come in contact with the crankshaft due to excessive piston end play. This contact broke a small 1/3" part off skirt and ended up in the bottom of block. Motor had approx 250hrs, oil changed at regular interval, had great compression across all 8 holes otherwise a well maintained 6.0. The motor is just out of warranty by a couple months. The first motor was replaced due to lack of power (took shop 5 months and never figured out why). Over the course of warranty period boat was in the shop several times for various issues with a cumulative time of over a year. Mainly for lack of power, propeller shaft broke (due to internal failure), again lack of power unable to determine why. Motor replaced under Warranty though still did not have as much power as new. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Block is still serviceable as well as crankshaft pending further inspection (Magnaflux Crack Inspection). Some additional information. The boat was ordered new from Axis Wake with the Monsoon 6.0 450 hp HO Motor with a Power Prop thru Larson Marine. Larson was purchased by Tommy's who did the installation of the second motor and has since gone Bankrupt and will not help in this matter. The motor disassembly was well documented with pictures throughout the disassembly showing what should be a relatively new motor. However on teardown the oil pan had been removed as it had signs of being replaced not by Tommy's or Larson's. Also the ECU showed approximately 150 hours on it which seemed odd as I was told it was a new motor.
