Today went out for a quick run to pick up a couple crab pots. Got about 1/4 mile from the dock and motor shuts off unexpectedly. Thought I caught a old crab pot string or something.
Turns out water pump hose that shoots water out engine had a large crack in it and all the water pumping out was being pumped inside the engine cowl. Never noticed it not pumping out when we left dock.
When I removed cowl a good gallon of salt water poured out. Engine would barely turnover or do much of anything. Definitely not sparking. A near by boater helped me back to the dock and I loaded out.
Back home I rinsed everything off inside the cowl and coated in water repellent spray.
Motor still wont turn over much or start but makes noise.
Wondering what damage I have done to my engine???? Help, engine is only 3 years old and been very well maintained.
