Hello fellow Mercury owners,
I've run into an issue I hope you can help with. My 2015 4stoke 25hp Merc outboard that I've had for about a year now has been perfect. Immediate starts, runs great , super low fuel consumption.
Two days ago I was on the lake and running at 3/4 throttle and she just died. My first thought was fuel, so I took apart the fuel tank and checked the pickup which seemed fine, the bulb was getting hard and so I fired her up and she ran for only a few seconds and died. Next I thought fuel filter, and took that apart and it looked great. I was stumped. Lucky I had a trolling motor to get me home.
Today I just checked for spark which was fine. So now I'm thinking fuel pump. I took it out and it is a cam driven unit that looked like it worked fine, meaning when I manually pumped the shaft it was pumping gas just fine.
So I am hesitant to buy a new fuel pump without checking with you guys. what would be your next step? Its got fuel injection so I guess that unit could be the culprit here.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
