Hey all, I have a 2013 mercury that was brought to me after a friend bought it having not run the engine. It will start and then immediately die. If I give it throttle, it stays running snd runs fine at a higher idle. I figured it was gas related so started there, it has 40-50 psi of fuel pressure and 180 psi in each cylinder for compression.
pumped out gas tank - new gas
new sender and bulb and fuel line
new fuel filters
cleaned VST tank
cleaned injectors
new plugs
none of those worked so I went on to replacing the IAC as that seems like it can go out frequently. That helped for 5 minutes and then it’s back to starting and dying immediately. I don’t have a mercury computer to plug in but don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. maybe a kill switch issue? Or MAPsensor? I’ve also read about some weird pressure issues since it has a electric low pressure and high pressure fuel pump. Also I can verify it’s running on all cylinders and all injectors are spraying fuel.
also from what I’ve read, this engine does not have a good rep for running smoothly.. but curious to know y’all’s ideas.
