2013 20hp Tohatsu vibration problem

From the day I purchased this motor it has a vibration that shakes the whole 14' boat. Dealer said it needed broke in so I took it home and ran the brake in period as outlined in the manual but it did not fix the problem. Took it back to the dealer and he contacted Tohatsu and they recommended replacing the carburetor. Which they did. This did not fix the problem either and I do not know what action to take now. I want them to replace the motor but they seem to be against that telling me that I have a five year warranty. Has anyone else had this problem and is it possible to go directly to Tohatsu with issues that you feel the dealer is not handling correctly?

Under what conditions do you have the vibration?
If you are running on an aluminum boat, you may be getting an amplification of normal motor sounds/vibrations. This would be most apparent near idle speeds. If so, add padding at the transom clamps to "float" the motor on a resilient mount.
If the vibration worsens at speed, you could have a bent or out-of-balance driveshaft (or associated parts).
If you are unhappy with your dealer's response to your problem, call Tohatsu America at 214-420-6440 to discuss the situation.
