The motor has been lightly used the last year, but started up every month and has had non ethanol fuel, fresh plugs ,fuel filter and oil change. Leaving marina felt like it was skipping a little, same on acceleration but rpm's came up to about 5500 rpm, Ran about 10 minuets over 5000 rpm, then no wake at a below 2000 rpm idle for 10 minuets everything seemed ok smooth on fast idle . Came out of speed restriction idled great but would not go above 2 K rpm tried three or 4 times no luck. Shut the engine off restarted and it ran normal since most of the running for the last year was idle or slightly above I ran it above 5500K for 10 minuets idled for a short distance and again four times the same thing t would not get above 2K rpm. I received no alarms, the fuel is clean and non ethanol with a stabilizer
( Seafoam). I thought would a bad sensor cause the failsafe to activate on a 2012 Mercury 40 HP EFI 3 cylinder with no alarm ? The alarm does sound at startup.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue ? I wonder what could cause this ? I am going to order a manual for test parameters
