2012 15 HP bottom end seal question

Hello,

i recently purchased a fishing camp with 2012 15HP 4 stroke motors. When doing the bottom ends, I'm finding fishing line in the bottom end as well as water. If I need to change the seal, can someone point me to a video, or a manual where it shows how to do this?

There is an o-ring and a couple of seals in/around the bearing carrier that may have been cut/damaged by fishing line, but they may not be the only source of water in the case (or the fishing line may not have caused any damage at all).

A pressure test is the only sure way to determine what is leaking/letting the water in.

Having said that, although others disagree, for the "average guy/gal", a Seloc's manual covering your model will walk you through the process of redoing the lower unit.

There are some "special tools" which make the process easier, but if you have a decent workshop you can usually "convince" the parts the come apart with tools other than the (expensive) special ones.

So my advice, spend the 35 bucks on the Seloc's - read over the process and decide from there if it's something you want to undertake yourself.
