I have a new 2010 115 4 stroke The oil pump failed in June of last year A new power head and oil pump was installed Seven months later the same thing happened Has anyone else had similar problems

I have had similar problems. I've had 2 of these outboards. I've had oil pump failures on both. The first was out of warranty, my bad luck. The second is still under warranty & I'm waiting to see what comes of it all. Not confident in the reliability of these motors.

I have a 90 hp 4-stroke that the timing chain keeps jumping out of time. The timing chain has a tensioner that has it's tensioning force applied by hydraulic (oil) pressure. I suspect low oil pressure (failed oil pump) may be the culprit. If the pump fails, does the oil pressure go to zero, or just to a low value.

i hate to hear about another problem with the newer mercs....i am running a 60hp bigfoot that i bought new less than a year ago and have no confidence in this motor...i have a 9 minute idle to get from my camp to where i can run and i never know what that motor is going to sound like at say 12-1500 rpm.... my camp is on the water and half the newer mercs idling by has some kind of rattle..if i run it on a hose you can hear all kind of strange stuff...

My 2003 115 HP 2 stroke has always sounded like shaking a coffee can full of marbles under 1500 RPM. My bro's 150 Johnson is as quiet as a mouse.
