Got a 2010 ( that's when I bought the boat) 50 ELPTO, 2 stroke, Ser #18761365, Mod # 1050412FD. I had it out on the water yesterday, cranks fine and idles fine. When I throttled up I was cruising at around 42 to 4500 rpms when the engine just powered down to about 3000 rpms, didn't die it just powered down. Backed off the throttle and put in neutral, en powered back up to above 4000rpms, it held for about 5 seconds he powered back down but didn't die. I ran a long ways up and down river at just under 4000 rpms and it ran fine, but whenever I tried to go faster it would back off like it was some kind of limp mode. Water pump is fine, spark plugs are fine, I'm thinking it is fuel related Several times when I'd throttle back up to over 4000rpms it would kick in and out of trying to throttle up. I am going to change fuel filter and see if that helps. Any advice would be of great help.

Agree with Jeff...this is dangerous and you could lose a fairly new motor quick....the first thing i would do is take it to a dealer and get a computer readout.this could be anything from one cylinder cutting out to fuel restriction..i would back off and do the following..check the compression and do a spark plug gap test before i run it anymore...the gap test can show up an intermittent running problem as a solid failure on the tester..the tester is cheap and can be bought at any good hardware store..if it is a fire failure then you are in luck and probably have no damage...just need to fix it...if it is a fuel problem then you need to be careful...make sure that the gas is new and try a different tank..make sure the tank is vented..try pumping the bulb and see if it still fails...kill the engine in gear at the point of failure..dont worry about it being in gear..pull the plugs and see if they are wet or not..put a inductive timing light in the boat and make sure all plugs are firing at the point of failure...do not use the boat except for diagnostic time until you fix it..

This doesn't have a "port" they can plug into and get an instant diagnostic.

You can probably count on a couple hours labour for a "tech check" on this model.

They will test the ignition, fuel flow, oil flow and give it a good look over.

Could end up dropping $200-250 just to figure out what is wrong, and that's if they find it quickly.

Thanks for the info, I also noticed that when I squeeze the primer bulb, I happened to look at the filter and when I get fuel going into it then stop, it sucks the fuel back out, gonna replace the bulb.
