200hp optimax will not idle down

I have a 2001 optimax 200hp th

I have a 2001 optimax 200hp that i put a new set of plugs and put it in the water and the engine will not idle down its running about 2000 rpms and its very hard to shift into foward or reverse. I put the old plugs back and still the same problem any ideas?

"The Opti's are nothing more than the remanants of a old style motor controlled by a computer and sensors. Something in the "brain" has short circuited.

Unfortunately, the only way the components can be tested is to take it into a dealer and have a tech "plug her in". It sounds like your throttle is being read incorrectly or there is a problem with the programming for the idle (or one of the sensors that feeds it is bad).

Simply unhooking sensors will not work for troubleshooting since the ECM will feed itself "what it wants to see" if a sensor is disconnected."
 
Don't force those shifts a

Don't force those shifts at 2000 rpms....you may take a tooth of a gear and a simple fix would get much more extensive and expensive!
