200hp BLACK MAX RECTIFIER ISSUE

1985 merc black max the 2 stator wires useing a test light one is bright one dim is this normal?

Having trouble getting rpm past 4000 . Firing on all 6 thought rectifier might have something to do with it .

no problem with rectifier checked ok .

Still cannot get over 4000 rpm no miss runs fine. Cannot figure it out.

Had carbs cleaned compression ok 23 prop new plugs new gas line ohmns on stator checked ok boat is 21 ft cajun bass boat had it only 6 months never got over 4000 rpms

23 pitch prop sounds a little heavy for that engine on a 21' boat. I would try a 19 pitch.

23" does sound pretty heavy pitched 19" should give u around 4800rpm are these engine rated rpm 5-5500?? If so maybe more like a 17" pitch
