2008 Honda BF90D replacement Battery

i am looking to replace the battery(s). i have two on a switch, (off,1,2,both). i want to know if i can replace them with two 700cca AGM batteries.

Hi Tracy,

The minimum requirement is a 760cca 70Ah battery for your outboard so the only way you could safely get away with using lower powered ones is to switch it to "both" every time you wanted to start the engine.

I have the exactly the same outboard/year as yours and use a single Xplorer 110Ah AGM 1100cca battery for starting and never had any problem. Your always best to have more battery power than try and get by with the minimum.

A deep cycle battery is normally required along with a cranking battery for starting, Wait for other replies from the more qualified than I. Lots of pros & cons on battery selection,Ahs &CCAs ETC. Running & charging on"both"Batt. selector switch,not a good idea,as told by previous posts. Batteries should come from the same lot iv'e also read here.
