"Hi all,
I put my dingy with the above 4 cycle engine up in dry storage. Before I did that I put in fuel stabilizer, fogged the carb and put some oil foam in the cylinders. Unfortunately somebody unauthorized used my dingy and probably did not service it before putting it back in storage. I will be going doen to my dingy in the Bahamas (George Town, Exumas)after 9 months of storage.
What condition should I expect to find when I try to start it? Will it start? Run rough, stall? Fail at high rpm? What should I take with me to make anticipated repairs? What specialized tools, what parts? There is no Honda dealer there and no local Honda parts supply. I rebuilt the carbs on a couple of my cars 40 years ago. I'm pretty much a novice with outboards. When I bought the dingy, the dealer said if I needed any carb work I should take it to an authorized service as it would be too technical. Will these repairs be manageable by me or will I make it worse? Will the cylinders be rusting? What can I do about that? Thanks for your time."
