I have a 150 EFI that I changed the Water Pump on about 15 months ago. I went out in my boat about two months ago and the temp sensor alarm came on. I had to let the motor cool down to get back to the boat ramp without doing a lot other damage to my motor. I changed both thermostats on my motor and now when I run the motor just in gear to move forward slowly, the temp alarm comes on again after being started awhile. However, when I throttle down to get on step, the motor runs fantastic and the temp alarm does not come on. I am not sure what this could be? Can someone please help me with any suggestions?

Any suggestions on this issue? I need some help on this please.

Were you having an issue before you changed the water pump? It's weird that it was fine for a year no all the sudden doesn't work. It sounds to me like you have a blockage or the thermostat is the wrong temp rating. How is the stream coming from the tell tale? I would also guess a failed water pump housing but unlikely if it had worked fine for all this time.

It ran great for the past year. I went out in my boat quite a bit last year and no problems until the trip I mentioned in my original post. The Tell Tale takes awhile for the water to shoot out. It always has. I believe that this is because the thermostats need to be at a certain temp before they open up. It does however stop flowing once the hot temp alarm comes on.

I have had this temp alarm problem with the motor 2 other times since I bought the boat brand new in 2008. Both times it was the water pump. This is the only issue I have ever had with the motor.
