2008 5.7 headgasket replacement

Putting engine back together and bought automotive head gaskets for my 5.7 vortec merc. Everything matches but the new headgasket has one extra hole between the two center cylinders exhaust side. This hole will allow more water flow in this area. Is this a problem or did mercury restrict this water for a reason? Fresh water cooled.

i would go with the merc gasket

If "fresh water cooled" to you means "closed cooling" system, then the automotive set will work just fine.
Otherwise, you'll want to use the Merc set.
