2008 40Hp y-cop immobilizer system

The engine will not start unless I disconnect the y-cop unit. I think it may need new code to operate. If I remove the unit engine runs max 2500 rpm. Would it be possible to remove this system and have the engine run normal to remove the unit do I need to replace ECU with older version.
