2007 Mercury 115 4 Stroke Fuel Problem

My problem started with bad fuel lines due to Ethonal. Replaced fuel line, fuel tank pickup and filters. Ended up having to replace both fuel pumps. Now when I start the motor it won't stay running long before dying. I put a primer bulb on and can keep it running when i use the primer. Once I get it running and up around 3000 RPM it runs great and will run all day long. When I shut it off it won't start without using the primer bulb. Which my motor is not supposed to have to begin with. Could I have a float problem? Or something else I'm not thinking of. It has to be something simple. It runs great once i get going. I acts up when I shut down and try to restart or when I drop down to an Idle. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Did you verify the anti-siphon valve? It is what the fuel line connects to on the tank. Since the primer bulb makes it start it seems the fuel is running back into the tank when it sits.

agree on anti-siphon valve....there should also be a valve of sorts in the tank end of the bulb that stops this....the bulb when you pump it is actually doing the job of the lifter pump....and once you are up and running the lifter pump is less important....i think i would leave the bulb in the line even after i got the problem fixed....its a good diagnostic tool and will allow you to run the motor sometimes and not get stranded...

I tried an anti siphon valve. The primer wouldn't work and the motor would start. It didn't have an anti siphon valve on it. I was wondering if the float could be causing my problem? Maybe it could be stuck in the full position. I'm not an expert but it makes sense. Any other iedeas? Thanks for your input.

injected, but with what guy stated did you clean the fuel module and set the float for it? have you checked your lift pump pressure? just a few ideas

Is this efi?? Yamaha block or new mercury block... Forgot what was year break newer 4LNA could possible electric float if no fuel this turns on the fill pump

Sorry jus looked it up and is newer merc block EFI if u haven't changed the float yet sounds like definite problem fill or lift pump turns on off by float (magnetic float) I've seen quite a few of these floats insulation where wires go in get eaten up by ethanol fuel and shorts out telling PCM there is fuel when obviously there is none
Testing does not always work either because if it dries out starts working and once fuel hits open wire stops again
And yes once changed remove primer ball keep with u because as u kno if lp pump goes out u can be it.
