2007 Honda BF150 Shift problems

Shifts into "FWD" and "N" fine. Shifts into "R" fine, but when shifting back into "N", the gears remain in "R" and the throttle seems to advance, (RPM's seem to increase, speeding up the "R" motion)
If I bypass "N" and go from "R" straight into "FWD", then back to "N", she shifts into "N" and stays there.

Should I be looking at shift detente setting, or the control box adjustments in cable slack, or should I presume stretch in the cables that can't be re-adjusted and just install new cables?

BF150 has 400 hrs.

thanks

Yep! You probably just have to adjust the shift cable adjustment at the engine. Also, check to be sure that no bolts or screws came loose allowing a lot of slop. Also, check to be sure that the entire cable is not moving coming out of the engine or the shift box.
