Hello,
I have a 2007 F50TRL that was starting fine every day then the very next morning it takes a lot of cranking to get it started for the first run of the day. Starts fine and runs strong all day until the next cold start. Is there a cold start solenoid somewhere that I can check?

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Frank

Thanks Boscoe..any idea of what it could be? I would think there is something that enrichens the fuel mixture during cold stating. I can't find anything in parts diagrams that would indicate this.

ECU or computer looks after this for cold starting.----Perhaps you have a sensor not telling the computer that motor is cold.

Thanks racerone. I was hoping it would be something quick to diagnose and replace. I just took the boat over to one of the local islands for the summer and really don't want to bring it back until fall and get to a shop. Maybe a small shot of starter fluid in the morning will get me through the summer! It will start but it is a lot of cranking.

Your model has an intake air temperature sensor, an air pressure sensor and an engine temperature sensor. All of which provide inputs to the ECU so that it can determine how much fuel to be delivered at any given point in time. As well as a component being faulty, wiring between the sensors and the ECU can distort the information that the ECU sees.

On a motor of your age, I would disconnect and reconnect all of the sensor connectors. Several times. Inspect them while they are apart. At times a bit of corrosion on the terminals cause the ECU to not see the best information. Doubt it is your problem but it is free and easy to do. Most all other trouble shooting may take some test equipment.

Are you 100% sure it is a F50? There were still 2strokes in the mix in 2007 and a carbed 2 stroke would have a primer that can get funky
