It won't run without the choke and it is tough to start. Is this just more jet clogging? This motor has less than 30 hours and is the kicker on a new boat. I run it at least once a week. The new 90hp next to it is doing fine on the same fuel supply. Does anyone have any insite into what this could be. Thanks

Yep. You where right Just In Time. I did it myself and it fired right up afterward. I don't have a compressor so I just used carb cleaner in an aresol can with the little plastic nozzle tube so I could get right in there and blast it out.
Thanks.

"I had exactly the same problem with my 2006 9.9 Honda outboard with maybe 3gallons of gas through it. After reading the recommendations on this site I removed the carb and cleaned out the main jet by squirting the jet with carb cleaner and running a very fine wire through the jet. Reassembled and engine ran fine. My last 10hp Honda ran great for over 23years (was stolen) with no problems and never used fuel additives or drained carb of fuel except the end of the season for storage. I guess the newer Hondas are more sensitive to fuel condition than the old outboards. From now on I will use carb cleaner and fuel conditioner in my tank. Thanks for the great help from this site. PS. When I told my insurance company that I could not understand why anyone would steal a 25 year old outboard his reply was that Honda is the most stolen outboard as there is always a demand for them, so lock them up."
