2007 40HP triple, 4 stroke wont rev out

My motor has no real problem still goes very well but gets to a certain rpm and thats as far as it will rev, in or out of the water, Do they have a factory rev limiter and if so can I disconect it some how, If not I will change the prop, Thanks for any help, Bruce

I think??? There might be a rev limiter in the computer.Did it ever work right?
Changing the prop might help for a bit but the problem should be looked at by a dealer.
Changing the prop can possibly lug the engine and cause overheating,pre-detonation.Eventual engine failure.
There are a couple of guys here that know a lot more about Mercs than I do and they will probably add something soon.J
