2007 150 hp EFI Merc

Took the boat out 2 weeks ago ran fine put 6 gallon gas in it last Saturday got tolake crank right up ran a couple minutes and died cranked right back this time it ran rough whenI pulled from dock boat want get on plane and only runs 5 to 10 miles a hour. Smokes bad run rough but does not die could this be something as simple as water in fuel tank. Any help would help before I have to take it to shop I would like to be able to do the repairs myself.
 
It could be bad fuel...did you buy it at a different place last time? Do a cylinder drop test. Use insulated plug wire pliers or other insulated pliers and disconnect one plug at a time to see if the engine changes RPM when you do.

Sample the fuel from the F/W separator filter. Pour it in a tall narrow jar and put a lid on it. Check it several hrs. later to see if water separates.
