I'm stumped. I replaced plugs and plug wires before the first outing this year. Bought a new belt for the alternator/compressor. Took the boat out and it idled fine away from the dock. Out past the buoys i opened it up and it ran well for about 10 seconds and idled back to somewhere in the 1500 rpm range. I pulled the throttle back and tried again with the same results. I've been testing it in several areas
80 psi air from the compressor, 90 psi from the fuel pump. 90 psi compression on all cylinders except number 6 which had 100 psi. Here's the thing and i know you're not supposed to do this, it eats up the impeller etc, but this motor runs like a raped ape as long as you like without water to it. I'm afraid i have a cracked water jacked OR is there any way the compressor is cracked and introducing a fine mist of water into the air injectors? I'm at my wits end and don't have thousands to spend on diagnosis and repair. HELP!
